How the reports are built

The six principles behind every report. The detailed rules, weights and thresholds are printed inside each report, so the client who receives it can see exactly how every finding and ranking was reached.

Six principles

These apply to the company assessment and the tender pipeline report alike.

Read, don't guess

Every figure comes from a filed document, a published notice or material the client supplies. Where a figure has to be calculated rather than read, the report lists it, says how it was derived and gives a confidence.

Test, and show the tests

Findings come from a fixed set of tests with stated thresholds. Each report prints the tests that fired with the figures behind them, and the tests that did not, so the reader can see everything that was checked, not only what was flagged.

Rank, don't predict

Win likelihood, addressable value and priority tiers are aids for deciding where to put effort. The weights and caps used are printed on the pages of the report they apply to. They are not forecasts, and every chart says so.

Compare against the sector

Margins, debtor days, liquidity and payout are judged against indicative ranges chosen from the company's industry classification, and the range in use is printed on the chart it applies to.

Respect the record

Where accounts have been re-filed or restated, the report uses the corrected figures but keeps the original filing dates, and shows the earlier figures alongside, so an amendment never makes an on-time filing look late and a restatement is never hidden.

Keep people responsible

Software does the reading and produces the first draft. A named person reviews every finding before a report goes out and is accountable for it.

About the worked examples

Every chart and figure on this site comes from two real reports. This is where they came from and what was removed.

Company assessment

Generated in September 2026 from accounts and registers filed at Companies House, covering ten filed periods for one specialist electrical contractor.

Tender pipeline

Generated in September 2026 for the same company: 23 distinct notices, 16 open, published values totalling £2.46bn, £54.65m addressable, four in the bid-now tier.

What was removed

The company name and number, its directors, its address beyond the region, and every buyer, contract reference and project name. Figures are as reported. The charts on this site are drawn from the anonymised extract; the full reports are not published.

How to read the citations

Small asterisks after a block of text point to the source for the claim in that block: a government or regulator page, legislation, or a standards body. Every source is listed with its access date on the sources page.
